Short session with MV produced 43 moths of 29 species.  New for the year: Pretty Chalk Carpet; Tawny-barred Angle; Buff Tip; Plain Golden Y; The Flame; Shuttle-shaped Dart; Tinea semifulvella; and, Udea olivalis.

Increase in temperature and sunny weather during the day produced a better catch last night with MV.

Tirpentwys

A late afternoon visit to Tirpentwys near Pontypool produced 10+ Gorse Pod Moth (Cydia succedana) on the flowering gorse, but not a lot more and no sign of a single butterfly.  Around this time last year the site was buzzing with 7 species of butterfly, including Green Hairstreak and Small Copper - also, Burnet Companian.

Lower Ochrwyth 6 May

Set the MV up on Sunday night at Ochrwyth, but continued cold weather meant that the catch was very poor for this time of the year.

Flame Shoulder, Scalloped Hazel, Brindled Beauty, Hebrew Character (x2), Common Quaker.  Earlier in the day (when there was some sun-shine) a single Adela reaumerella.
