Uskmouth Butterfly Transect 10th April

Sheila and her grand daughter, Claudia, walked the transect today. They were rewarded with the 1st butterfly they saw being a brimstone. This species is seldom seen at Uskmouth, although this year there have been several sightings suggesting that they might have bred here last year on the 5 alder buckthorns that have been planted around the reedbeds.
A total of 29 butterflies were seen of 6 species:
brimstone - 2
green-veined white - 2
peacock - 16
small tortoiseshell - 6
comma - 1
speckled wood - 2
